In 1998 James Austin, of Eleven Roses Ranch, acted on a dream of expanding his Agritoursim business by showcasing Lake County’s growing wine industry. He purchased a 17-passenger motor coach and launched Lake County Wine Tours when there were only 4 tasting rooms open. Wildhurst Vineyards in downtown Kelseyville, Steele Wines in the Big Valley area of Kelseyville, Ployez Winery in Lower Lake that still offers the only sparkling wine in Lake County, and Guenoc Winery in Middletown. 

James not only provides the transportation but also his knowledge and love of wine and grape growing.  His exclusive tours take visitors into vineyards where they can experience the wine while learning about the vineyards and grapes they were made from.  In the spring you can see the bloom and set of the vines.  Watch as they mature during the warm summer days.  Then experience the harvest and brilliant fall colors.  The scenic drives and spectacular views only add to the enjoyment of one of his tours.  Lake County is rich in history and James is well versed in the legend and lore, as well as the facts and figures!
